And if you are a wine lover, nature lover, culture lover or any other 'lover', the fact is, it is an incredible thing that the oldest vine in the world is growing at the very centre of medieval Maribor, the second largest Slovenian city.
However, visitors are fascinated especially by the resilience of the Old Vine and its greatness. Not by size, but by greatness! - Perhaps we are a bit too modest, its size is inspiring as well when the lush foliage wrapped branches are stretching far on the façade of its House.
Follow it into the Old Vine House
The venerable lady on the banks of the Drava river sits in sun and gives a friendly welcome to passers-by. If you don’t want to only observe her from the outside, but also follow her into her house, she will reveal several secrets to you. She will tell you things - about herself and Styrian and Slovenian wine-growing heritage. She will trust you with the success stories of local winemakers. And not only in words and pictures, you can as well enjoy a rich taste of the wine in this wonderful atmosphere - yet another thing that won’t leave a visitor feeling indifferent!
