Wine Queens

The Wine Queen is an ambassador for Slovenian wines, viticulture, and the Slovenian winegrowing regions.

The Slovenian Wine Queen presents, around Slovenia and abroad, Slovenian wines, tourism, and cultural heritage. She promotes the culture of vine cultivation and the care and culture of wine consumption.

The Slovenian Wine Queen is annually selected, by a special commission, in an open competition. The prestigious title is open to girls who demonstrate good general knowledge, knowledge of viticulture, Slovenian winemaking, and expertise in offering and serving wine. They should be able to confidently speak publicly in Slovenian and at least one other foreign language.

For many years, the Wine Queen Institution has successfully organised the Pomurje Fair (Pomurski sejem) in Gornja Radgona, which after the objective of promoting business, is one of the most loyal carers and promoters of Slovenian wine culture.
